HLS at the AAPS National Biotechnology Conference: 6/21/09 – 6/24/09

by Cathy Garneau

Huntingdon Life Sciences will have Booth 904 at the AAPS Biotechnology Conference this weekend in Los Angeles.  There will be a protest Saturday and Sunday at 12 noon at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Every three minutes an innocent animal dies a horrible death in Huntingdon in cruel and useless experiments which involce poisoning, burning and other horriffic procedures.

Who can join me this weekend to protest Huntingdon’s participation in the 2009 AAPS (American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists)??

In the meantime, please call, email, write or fax AAPA and inform them about HLS and why they should not allow such a company to soil their exposition:

American Asscoiation of Pharmaceutical Scientists
2107 Wilson Blvd., Suite 700, Arlington VA 22201-3042
Main Telephone: (703) 243-2800Main Fax: (703) 243-9650
I need protest signs…I don’t have the ability to get any thing printed or made in time…if anyone has any photos, posters, etc. that can be turned into large graphic visuals that would be great!!

Please join me in addressing the HLS animal terrorists this weekend.
Thanks so much!

Everyone who protests there is a hypocrite…torture of animals is one thing, research is another. For the record I do animal research at a university. All medications that have or will save someone in your life or you have and will be tested in vivo in animals first. There are precautions taken to make sure there is no suffering. If they are torturing the animals that is one thing, but do not make blatant misleading statements without knowledge of the matter. Otherwise, nobody here should take any medication whatsover EVER, even Tylenol, because animal studies were involved in its development. Your pointless protests will never stop these experiments. Use your energy for something more productive.

  3. Nick,

Plain and simple — YOU are a terrorist, bereft of anything resembling empathy or conscience.

You and your ilk subject nonhumans to sadistic regimens which, if they were as gentle and pleasant as you all want people to believe, could easily be conducted upon human subjects achieving RELEVANT results. But we’re all pretty clear about the fact that no human would willingly submit to your depraved indifference and so it’s much easier to imprison those that can’t defend themselves.

Let’s be clear about this: barbaric and useless drug experiments are inflicted on nonhuman victims as a matter of business — for fun and profit. Do not suggest that a successful drug is available because of animal torture… successful drugs are developed DESPITE animal torture.

Clinical trials on human subjects yield the most accurate and relevant data in determining how a drug will affect the human population. And, clearly, there would not be a thriving legal niche (”if you have been injured, maimed, or a loved one died from taking drug xyz that was marketed on the basis of irrelevant and harmful data extropolated from experimenting on terrorized nonhumans, then call us to become part of this week’s class action law suit”) if there was any validity to any of your jibberish.

Nick, I’m afraid you are deluded or simply lying for your own reasons. Yes all medications are tested on animals, because of outdated FDA regulations. The fact is that tsting drugs intended for humans on animals gives accurate results less than 50% of the time. Thalidomide, tested on animals: safe; used by humans: caused birth defects; the list goes on and on. Why are you so concerned about us wasting our energy? The truth is your running scared.

  5. LoVegan says:

You research your salary torturing animals. Period.
